The intermodal rates outlook that is included in the Shippers Update report presents the history and a forecast of the future direction of rates for rail intermodal rates. It looks at intermodal rail rates, but also includes a drayage component so that subscribers can gain an all-in perspective on where intermodal rates are heading. The drayage component of the overall rate ties to the dry van trucking market while the rail portion of the rate is influenced by the overall competitive position of rail intermodal compared with its trucking counterpart. The rate excludes any fuel surcharge levied by carriers throughout the intermodal supply chain.
