What does the intermodal rates outlook in the Shippers Update cover?
The Shippers Update includes an intermodal rates outlook covering historical rate data and a forward-looking forecast for rail intermodal rates. The outlook also includes a drayage component, giving subscribers an all-in view of where intermodal rates are heading. Fuel surcharges applied by carriers at each point in the intermodal supply chain are excluded from the rate.
The rate is made up of two components:
- Drayage component: Tied to the dry van trucking market.
- Rail component: Influenced by the overall competitive position of rail intermodal relative to its trucking counterpart.
